Idea: Make a table runner, matching napkins, and a basket liner (large napkin) as a matching set.
Idea: Make pot holders, use the same fabric(s) to trim a pair of hand towels, and make a grocery bag holder,and a small table runner and you have a full set for a nice gift.
Idea: Make your own combination of placemats, table runner, napkins, pot holders, hanging towels, grocery bag holder,basket liner, casserole carrier, appliance covers, chef's hat and apron(s) for a gift set. You can use a multi-color fabric as an accent,and make multiple sets that are interchangeable.

All the fixings for gourmet popcorn in a large bowl for serving.
Romantic dinner kit - non-perishable ingredients for something he likes to cook, pair of taper candles and inexpensive candle holders, a 'voucher' that tells him who to call for baby sitter, etc. Can also put in cloth napkins, a CD of your favorite music etc., bottle of wine or beverage, etc.
A picnic quilt and basket filled with plastic plates, glasses, flatware, can opener, knife, etc.
Tool roll for the vehicle.
Pillow cases (see teens!)
PJ bottoms - add a matching t-shirt for a set.
Pocket caddy to go over back of seat with map, flashlight & magnifying glass in the pockets.
Tie, vest, or muffler.
Quilted case for fishing poles/lures or his favorite hunting rifle. The contributor suggests black, navy, or camo for these.
BBQ apron with matching mitt, tongs, flipper & a jar of special steak seasoning.
Bottle tote & favorite beverage.
