Thank you all for your care and support of both
Niki and the UFO-rphanage for Quilters over the years.
Niki will be off line for some time, &
WE ARE SUSPENDING ALL DONATION ACTIVITIES
until she is able to return.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our site and Happy Quilting!

You will find a wealth of information and resources here, including lots of information, tips, links, how-to's, and a variety of projects, ideas, and information on quilt related topics. Enjoy your visit!

An Important Note on Bookmarking UFO-rphanage Pages:
This site will be under-going major reconstruction behind the scenes several times in the coming year, and file names may change frequently. Although it is tempting to do so, please do not bookmark the individual pages in your browser. Instead, bookmark our Entry Page, whose name will remain the same throughout the reorganizing and reconstruction. From there, you will easily find your page! Thank you for your understanding.

      Notes & News:

Welcome! You will find lots of quilty information here, including articles on organizing, time saving, and finishing UFO's.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All donation activities are currently suspended until Niki is able to return. Thank you for your understanding and support.

      Our Articles:

3-D Flying Geese - Christine Schnaufer's method not only gives you great points quick and easy on finished geese, but you get the 3-D element as a bonus!

Buying Fabric--How Much Is Enough? - Whether you are new to quilting, or an experienced quilter who would like to read an interesting article and perhaps change your buying habits, this article is certainly a thought provoking read.

Favorite Sewing & Quilting Tools - Niki's personal favorite tools to increase your efficiency, accuracy, your joy in quilting, and share ways she saves in buying these tools.

Finishing UFO's - Vanquish those UFO's using some of these proven techniques!

Heart Block Patterns - Whether you are just a fan of hearts, need fans for a theme quilt or project, or are in search of the right pattern for a Healing Hearts project, this list should help you find just the right pattern to suit your needs. Patterns include piecing, applique, paper piecing, and redwork. Please share links you may know of to keep this list alive and vibrant. New additions are added at the bottom of the list.

(Holiday) Gift Ideas - A long page of links and ideas. Includes a variety of kitchen gifts, totes, purses, organizers, teens, fleece projects, Christmas projects, miscellaneous projects, and a list of ideas for guy gifts. This page will continue to be updated throughout the year, so check back for new ideas!

Homemade vs. Store Bought - Another thought provoking article shared by fellow quilter Barbara Garrett.

I Spy Quilts - This article gives you hints, tips and ideas on making those delightful "I Spy" quilts that become both a learning and memory tool and a cuddly comfort. Even though it is still a page 'in progress' there are lots of ideas here to help your I Spy be successful.

New Year's Hints & Reminders - Lots of little things you might not think of doing around the turn of the New Year. Remember to share your tips to add!

Organizing Hints for Fabric, Projects, Tools, etc. - Some great ideas here!

Pot holder Hints - I think of this as our keynote article. The information is invaluable, clearly presented, and still leaves lots of room for creativity.

Quick Gift Ideas - Need a quick gift idea? Look here!

Quick Quilt Ideas - Need a quilt in a hurry? Many ideas here should help you get it done!

Quilter's Math Reference - Mattress sizes, pillow sizes, batting sizes, and how many squares can you get from a fat quarter. More math items to be added soon!

Quilty Poems/Sayings - Good for embroidering on a quilt, on a label, or writing in an enclosure card. Also nice to print and frame to decorate a sewing room.

Scrap Quilts - A collection of links from all over the 'net with free patterns that would look wonderful done in scraps.

Scrap Templates - Make the most of your scraps. This article explains how to get the most use for several shapes on a 12x18 sheet of template plastic. Then use these templates to cut down all your scraps into the most usable sizes so they are ready to go for your next project!.

Spray Basting FAQ - This was the first detailed "how to spray baste" article out there, and is still one of the best. Lots of questions and answers included.

Stashbusting Hints & Ideas - Some of the best hints, tips, and ideas that can be had for stashbusting from the yahoo quilters group who join together in an effort to use existing stash, reduce or eliminate buying, find inspiration and help to finish UFO's, and find ways to use existing stash through the successes of others, challenges, shared patterns, and just a great group dynamic. One of our favorite groups!

Stashes, A Positive, No-Guilt Approach - I think all quilters should read this article written by quilter Barbara Whatley. Although we often joke about hiding our purchases from spouses, family, etc. and hiding the amount we spend on it, many quilters do suffer anxiety, quilt, and even depression over their purchases, and here's an article with a whole new way to look at things that can help you find your way out of that rut.

Timesaving Ideas - Thanks to a recent discussion on the QuiltersBee E-guild, here's some of our best hints, tips and techniques for increasing accuracy, efficiency, and speeding up construction of our sewing and quilting projects. There's some wonderful information here! Be sure to e-mail your additions to us after you've read it.

Using Lesser Quality Fabrics - Whether through donations, early, uninformed purchases, or sometimes just impulse, you've ended up with non-quilt quality fabric in your stash. You can't stand the thought of just throwing it away, so what do you do with it?

PLEASE NOTE: Some portion of your donations, in part or whole may be used in fund raising efforts for maintaining this site, or for other expenses. By sending your donations you are giving permission for such use without restriction. For further details, feel free to E-Mail Niki.
